Graft set out to create something that would make AI available to all businesses, not just the biggest ones with the most engineering resources, when it released the beta version of its AI development platform last year.

The business declared a $10 million seed investment today. As it started to open up the offering to other organizations in a regulated manner, the startup also stated that it is asking businesses to request access to the platform.

While managing AI at Slack, Graft co-founder and CEO Adam Oliner had the idea for the business. Today, he observes how the increased buzz surrounding ChatGPT has elevated AI to the fore of business discussions. Still, he asserts a significant distinction between experimenting with ChatGPT and creating an AI application suitable for production.

The glitzy gadgets are not designed for production, and the well-established platforms are mainly inaccessible to non-experts. In light of this, Oliner told TechCrunch, “We see Graft as filling that market gap with a production-grade, contemporary AI platform built for everyone.”

Even while creating AI apps has not been more straightforward, in Oliner’s opinion, ChatGPT has demonstrated what is possible. “While you can abstract away a ton of that complexity using things like large language models, the path to production has not gotten any simpler, and in some ways has gotten more complex,” he claimed. These models require more work to understand. They are bulky and awkward. Regarding compliance, privacy, AI ethics, and other topics, new issues were only after that.

The business has made things simpler by releasing a few apps to assist clients in getting started quickly without needing to create something from scratch. The speaker stated that we’re introducing the idea of applications, which are pre-built use cases that can be rapidly and easily instantiated into complete production use cases based on data.

They currently offer services like visual search and client champion identification. He claims that to get started, all you need to do is register a Graft account, pick one of the pre-defined templates, and specify the location of your data. Graft takes care of the infrastructure needed to operate the application.

With the cooperation of GV, Radical Ventures led the $10 million investment made today. After raising a pre-seed round of $4.5 million last year, the company has now raised $14.5 million.
