Canada Visa Online serves as a visa disclaimer document for foreign citizens from some eligible (visa-free) countries who can travel to Canada without a visa from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate but can go to the country on eTA for Canada instead. Must apply and get online. The Canada ETA performs the same function as the Canada Visa but is more easily accessible and faster. Canada eTA is only valid for business, tourism, or transit purposes. The validity period of your eTA is different from the duration of your stay. Although eTA is valid for 5 years, your duration cannot exceed 6 months. You can enter Canada at any time during the validity period.
This is a quick process that requires you to fill out a Canada visa application online, which can take up to five (5) minutes to complete. Canada ETA is issued upon successful completion of the application form and after the applicant pays the fee online.
Canada Visa
- Applicants wishing to travel to Canada must apply for a visa prior to traveling to Canada, except for the visa-exempt countries.

- Applicants can travel by air, road, or ship using this acquired Canada Tourist Visa in their passport.
Original passport
Canada tourist visa application must be submitted for processing as the visa will be stamped in the passport. The passport must have at least two blank pages, one for visa stamping and the other for stamping the entry/exit stamp in the passport. A passport must be valid for at least 6 months on the day of travel to Canada. If the validity of the passport is less than 6 months, the passport must be renewed before applying for a Canada visa. For visas issued for more than one year, the validity of the visa will be based on the validity of the passport.
Previous passports are also required to complete the Canada Tourist Visa application as the applicant needs a complete travel history.
Who can apply for a Canada Visa online (or Canada eTA)
Only citizens of the following countries are exempt from obtaining a visa to travel to Canada and must apply for an ETA in Canada instead. Citizens of Canada and the United States only need a Canadian or US passport to travel to Canada. US legal permanent residents, however, who are eligible for a US green card, must apply for a Canada eTA.Only visitors who are traveling to Canada by air via commercial or chartered flight will need to apply for eTA in Canada.
