AMC Theaters Now Accepts The Meme Coin, Shiba Inu
The bullish news continues for the meme coin as the American Movie Theater company (AMC) Theaters added cryptocurrencies including Shiba Inu to their payment options on the company’s mobile app. AMC Theaters has a partnership with Bitpay that makes them offer different cryptocurrency payment options, including Shiba Inu.
The Chief Executive Officer of AMC Theatres, Adam Aron, “made an announcement on April 15th on his Official Twitter handle, Exactly as promised, the AMC iOS and Android mobiles app for AMC’s U.S theaters now accept online payment using DogeCoin, Shina Inu, and other cryptocurrencies- thanks to Bitpay, a Bitcoin payment service provider. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Paypal. To do so, you will need to update to the latest version of our app”.
AMC is a pro-crypto company and some call AMC a “meme stock”. On November 12, 2021, the company started accepting crypto payments which allowed its customers to buy movie tickets and other services online using Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Ether (ETH).
However, the company’s move into acceptance of the meme coin Shiba Inu is not a surprise as the CEO Adam Aron already promised via a tweet on January 6, 2022, that the company would accept the Shiba Inu coin no later than March 2022.
This was what the CEO tweeted from his official Twitter page “I have been repeatedly asked when AMC expects to routinely accept DogeCoin and Shiba Inu for any and all payments made via the AMC website and mobile app. I am being told that we are still well on track for the promised Q1 implementation, with exact timing most likely in March”.
Although we are already in Q2 of 2022, it was executed one month after it was overdue, and AMC Theaters has finally executed its promises. It is better late than never. As the use case of Shiba Inu increases, we do hope that this will also have a bullish impact on Shiba Inu’s price.
Ethereum Whales Accumulating More Shiba Inu
After Shiba Inu was listed on Robinhood, more doors were opened for the meme coin for more investors. The fifth-largest Ethereum whale initiates a massive 223,761,580,609 Shiba Inu transfer as SHIB becomes the most widely held altcoin among the largest ETH investors.
WhaleStats, a blockchain tracking service first spotted an entity known as BlueWhale0073 as they accumulated over 200 billion SHIB worth which is equivalent to $5,781,999 and the whale’s wallet is currently worth over $4,657,849,480.
The ETH whales are investing more into the meme coin which has led to the usage of the Shiba Inu smart contract making it the most preferred investment medium among the 2,000 largest Ethereum whales.
