How to connect your laptop with your printer in seconds
Invested in a printer but unable to take out that print? Worry no more. Keep reading to find the solution to your problem. There are several ways to go about this, depending on your Windows and/or Mac version.
Laptop (Windows 10) to printer – wireless
Nowadays it is very easy to use your printer with Windows 10. Unlike other versions, you don’t need to install, use a CD or a USB to go the whole nine yards. Quite magically, switch on your printer, enabling the Bluetooth on your device. Go to ‘Settings’ >> ‘Devices’ >> ‘Printers & Scanners.’ Select ‘Add a printer or scanner’ and wait for it to scan and detect the nearby printers. The device should come across the printer instantaneously. You can click on the printer of your choice to connect.
In case your desired printer does not show in the list, you need to ensure that your laptop and printer are connected to the same network in order to install/detect. You can also read the instructions on your printer’s manual to get a better idea as to how to install it.
Laptop to the printer – USB cable
If your printer needs to be connected with a USB cable, ensure that your printer is switched off before connecting. Usually, people connect with both devices on. This may cause hindrance and may not work.
There are two sides to a cable. One end is wider than the other. The wider end of the cable is called a ‘cable’ while the shorter end is called a ‘port’. The ‘port’ will of the wire goes in the printer while the cable is plugged into the data science laptop.
Once the cable is plugged in and secure, switch on your printer and wait for a minute. Ensure that your printer paper is loaded properly. Now go to ‘Settings’ >> ‘Devices’ >> ‘Printers & Scanners.’ Select ‘Add a printer or scanner’ and wait for it to scan and detect the nearby printers. Once you match and find your printer series on the laptop, click on it to connect. As soon as the devices are paired, start with your printing.
How to install a printer?
With the evolution of technology, printers have become a necessity in our homes and offices. There are many printers that are designed to install automatically however, many drivers need to be installed still.
Regardless of the Windows you have, it is always a good idea to get well acquainted with the device you have on hand. Knowing what you are dealing with is always a good idea. Therefore, read the manual that comes with your laptop and your printer.
As mentioned earlier, some printers can get installed on auto while others may require a USB and/or a CD to complete the process. Once you insert the drive, your system will start running and setting up the printer to catch the active devices for you to choose from. Ensure that you select the right model, matching the numbers on your printer, to avoid any discrepancy.

How to install a printer on MacBook?
MacBook is usually tech-savvy therefore it can easily be connected via Bluetooth. Follow the simple instructions as follows. Click on the Apple icon on your main screen (top-left corner). Select ‘Preferences’ and the ‘Printers and Scanners’. Click on the ‘+’ below the printer to choose the desired printer. Now select the printer’s software and click ‘Add’.
