Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized a tanker carrying 200,000 liters of oil from the Persian Gulf while it was carrying stolen oil.
Iran has seized a third such ship this month, the IRGC said in a statement. News Reuters.
Col. Golam Hussein Husseini, head of the mass communications department at the IRGC’s 2nd Naval Zone, said the smuggled ship was detained along with eight of its crew and taken to the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr.
The detainees have been handed over to the Iranian judiciary for further investigation and judicial proceedings.

The IRGC official said that in order to protect Iran’s national production and economy, stopping the smuggling of fuel into the sea was one of the most important responsibilities of its forces.
