BGB will take the field from May 15 on the occasion of upcoming Comilla City Corporation (CUSIC) elections. City elections will be held on June 15.EC Joint Secretary SM Asaduzzaman said this on Tuesday (May 10).
He said a platoon of BGB is being deployed from May 15 along with law enforcement agencies to maintain a peaceful environment in the constituency during the Comilla City Corporation elections. At the same time, three executive magistrates will also be deployed from May 12.
Besides, the local administration and law enforcement agencies have taken various measures to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the constituency and stop all kinds of show-downs .
According to the Returning Officer of Comilla City Corporation Election, the law enforcement agencies have seized 209 motorcycles and filed cases till May 9, 2022 and collected fines of Rs. 5,7,000 (five lakh seventy six thousand).
According to the schedule announced by the EC, the last date for submission of nomination papers is May 16 and selection of nomination papers is May 19. An appeal against the Returning Officer’s decision can be lodged till May 22. The appeal will be disposed of by May 25. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 28 May. The symbol will be allocated on May 26.
