Lionel Messi proved he’s still one of world football’s most elegant dribblers after gliding past Giovanni Di Lorenzo during Argentina vs Italy.

Lionel Scaloni’s side lifted the Finalissima trophy on Wednesday evening after a dominant 3-0 victory at Wembley Stadium.

The game between the Copa America and Euro 2020 winners was lit up 27 minutes in thanks to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Messi.

Messi received the ball just outside the box and Di Lorenzo decided to mark his opponent tightly. The Napoli man would soon regret it.

Rather than lay the ball off, Messi twisted away from Di Lorenzo and darted into the box. He’d then pass across goal and Lautaro Martinez tapped in the opener.

How did it stick to Messi’s feet like that? The balance, the speed and most importantly, the precision. Sensational stuff.

Fans online have reacted to the skill and they remain in awe at what Messi can do.

One commented: “I wish I could’ve seen this live, still so special.”

Another said: “What an assist. Messi had Italy on the ropes all game.”

A third tweeted: “Messi deserves full credit for this goal.”

While someone put: “This is why Messi is one of the best players in the world. Every assist is magic.”

Messi would go on to be named Man of the Match and it was fully deserved.

Argentina doubled their lead just before halftime through Angel Di Maria, who turned home after a lovely assist from goalscorer Martinez.

Italy were on the ropes and Roberto Mancini’s side almost capitulated ten minutes into the second half.

Leonardo Bonucci’s wayward backpass almost caught out goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but he produced a last-gasp clearance.

Di Maria had more chances as did Giovani Lo Celso, but Donnarumma matched them all.

Argentina would get their third late on through substitute Paulo Dybala.
