On Monday, LDP and Chhatra League-Swechchhasebak League organized a reciprocal Eid reunion in front of Mumtaz Ahmed Bhaban of ‘Redwan Ahmed College Campus-2’ in Chandina Upazila Sadar. Leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League took position there from noon on that day. When Redwan Ahmed brought the car around 2:15 pm, the leaders of Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League stopped the car at the gate of the college and talked to him. After a while, at around 2.30 pm, while Redwan Ahmed was turning around, the Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League activists threw watermelon pieces and stones at the car. At that time, Redwan Ahmed fired two shots in a row and left quickly. After that, after chasing the leaders and activists of Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League, Redwan took shelter at Chandina police station and the police arrested him.
Mahmudul Hasan Sarkar Johnny, 22, a member of Chhatra League, Ward 5, Chandina Municipality, and Nazmul Hossain Naeem, 26, an activist of Upazila Swechchhasebak League and local Chandiara village, were shot dead by Redwan. Later, they were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital with first aid at the Upazila Health Complex. Chandina Municipal Volunteer League leader Kazi Akhlaqur Rahman Jewel filed a case of attempted murder at the police station on Monday afternoon, naming 15 people, including Redwan Ahmed. 20 to 25 unidentified persons were accused in the case. Four people, including Redoan, were later arrested in a case of attempted murder.
In the afternoon of the same day, four persons including Redoan were brought from Chandina police station to Comilla’s Amli Court No. 6. At around 8 pm, the court judge Abu Bakar Siddique ordered them to be sent to Comilla Central Jail. He has been lodged in Comilla Central Jail since then.
The plaintiff in the case, Kazi Akhlaqur Rahman, said, “We want the punishment of Redwan Ahmed.” He fired shots to kill Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League workers. This is not acceptable in any way. It’s a completely planned event.
