Al Jazeera reports that in a country like France, a president is rarely elected for a second term. But Macron was re-elected last month with 56.5 percent of the vote.

In a brief statement after being sworn in for a second term on Saturday, Macron said his second term would be “new”, not a continuation of the first term.

Promising to work with ‘consideration and respect’, he said, “We need to work together to come up with new methods that will not be the same as traditional and routine work.” Through this new self-interested social and environmental communication will be created.

In the context of Ukraine, Emanuel Macron said that the conflict should not escalate and that France should act accordingly. He vowed to help maintain democracy and courage.
