The crime figures that The Dallas Express will use to determine who the “Crime Boss of the Month” for August will be updated as July draws to a conclusion.

However, according to the figures for the month of June, Dallas District 7 comes to the forefront as yet another district that had a rise in the number of crimes committed, climbing 7.93 percent compared to the previous June.

In June of 2019, Adam Bazaldua, who is now serving as the councilman for District 7, was elected to the Dallas City Council. He is the youngest member of the Council that has ever been appointed.

According to his bio, “Adam is focused on the need for neighborhood safety improvements, solving the City’s expanding homeless population, and promoting local businesses that better serve each community’s needs.” These are all issues that need to be addressed in order to make neighborhoods safer. He is an ardent supporter of economic development so long as it is to the advantage of the people already living in the town.

Bazaldua and District 7 have never been featured in the Crime Boss of the Month feature, whereas Crime Boss for July, Councilman Chad West, has won the dubious honor in District 1 four times, most recently in June with a staggering crime increase of 54.9 percent. Bazaldua and District 7 are both considered to be in District 7 and Bazaldua is considered to be in District 7. The Dallas Express contacted Bazaldua and his office, asking them to comment on the recent rise in crime and what measures are being taken to combat it. However, as of the time of publication, no responses had been received.
