The head of Human Rights Watch is resigning

Kenneth Roth, executive director of the human rights group Human Rights Watch, said he would resign. He made the announcement on Tuesday. Roth has been the head of this organization for almost three decades.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch says it will find a worthy successor to Kenneth Roth. Prior to that, Tirana Hassan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Rights Watch, served as the company’s interim executive director.

Human Rights Watch is working to document and reduce serious human rights abuses around the world.

Roth, who joined as deputy director in 1986, said: “I am privileged to have spent nearly 30 years in an organization that has become a leading force in defending human rights around the world.

Human Rights Watch previously had 60 employees and started out with a budget of just 8 million. From that position, they now have 552 employees in more than 100 countries, and their current budget is about কোটি 100 million.

Roth also said he would write a book on his personal experience about the most effective strategies for defending human rights. During his tenure at Human Rights Watch, he has met with more than two dozen world leaders and ministers from various countries. He has also made exploratory visits to more than 50 countries.
