New Mahindra Scorpio-N to be available in both petrol and diesel engine options

Launch Date

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is due for launch in India on 27 June. Ahead of its debut, the Indian automaker has revealed a few details about the new model. This highly anticipated SUV is built on a new body-on-frame platform and it will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. Moreover, the current generation model will continue to be sold as the Scorpio Classic.

Features

Under the hood, the petrol version of the Scorpio-N is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi engine which produces 150bhp at 5,000rpm. The torque figures for the petrol manual and automatic transmission options are likely to vary. While the six-speed manual unit produces 300Nm between 1,250-3,000rpm, the automatic transmission unit generates 320bhp between 1,500-3,000rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk 130 engine which produces 130bhp at 3,750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,600-2,800rpm. Both the engines can be had either with manual or automatic transmission options.

Mahindra Scorpio 2022 Grille

Mahindra has unveiled the new-gen Scorpio-N. Earlier codenamed Z101, this highly anticipated SUV is built on a new body-on-frame platform. The new model will be manufactured at the company’s production facility in Chakan, Pune. Moreover, the current generation model will be sold as the Scorpio Classic.

Mahindra Scorpio 2022 Headlight

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N has been engineered and designed by teams at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai, Mahindra North American Technical Center (MNATC) in the USA, and Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai. As seen in the images, the fascia is highlighted by a new grille with chrome vertical slats and dual-projector headlamps with sequential turn indicators. Further, the redesigned bumper now gets a honeycomb mesh pattern and new C-shaped LED DRLs on both ends.

As for the sides, the new model gets a beefed-up beltline inspired by the XUV700. The vehicle will ride on a set of dual-tone twin-spoke alloy wheels and will also feature silver highlights on the cladding. Further, it gets chrome inserts on the door handle and body-coloured ORVMs with turn indicators. The rear section is highlighted by Volvo-like signature LED taillights. Additionally, a chrome line runs across the lower half of the bumper and wraps around the reflectors, while the silver-coloured bash plate complements the overall style.

The interior has not been revealed now; however, based on previous spy shots, the Scorpio-N is expected to get a sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and leather upholstery.
