The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways wants to visit foreign countries to gain experience by observing the railway activities abroad. For this, the parliamentary committee related to the Ministry of Railways has recommended the Ministry to arrange a visit to Korea, China or Japan.

However, the Ministry of Railways said that action would be taken in this regard if the restrictions on corona infection situation were relaxed. The information was given by the Railway Ministry at a meeting of the parliamentary committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday.

According to the working paper of the meeting, the parliamentary committee had earlier in March recommended to make arrangements for on-the-spot inspection of railway activities in Korea, China or Japan after Eid to gain experience. Committee members and concerned officials were asked to organize the visit.

At yesterday’s meeting, the ministry said that various travel restrictions are still in place in Korea, Japan and China due to the coronavirus. If the travel restrictions of the countries concerned are relaxed, action will be taken on the issue of travel. However, meeting sources said that this issue was not discussed in yesterday’s meeting.

The main function of the parliamentary committee based on the ministry is to review the work of the ministry under the committee, to investigate irregularities and serious allegations and to give advice or recommendation to the ministry by examining the bills. In this case, if any special benefit is taken from the Ministry, there is a risk of conflict with the interests of the people concerned. The Prime Minister’s Office had instructed the members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee to travel abroad at the expense of the Parliament Secretariat as questions were raised about the foreign tour of the Parliamentary Committee at different times. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
