The verses of the Qur’an which have no room for interpretation

Qur’anic scholars have divided the verses of the Qur’an into three parts, judging by the clarity of meaning. 1. The meaning of which is so clear that there is no room for explanation, II. The meaning and significance of which Allah has kept invisible to the servant. As a result, it is not possible for the servant to know the explanation, 3. The verses that have room for interpretation. In the interpretation of the first two types of verses, the Holy Qur’an has said, “He is the One who has sent down this Book to you. And others are ‘mutashabih’ (meaning not clear), only those who have a tendency to violate the truth in their hearts follow mutashabihat for the purpose of fitna and misinterpretation.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

No one knows its interpretation except Allah. And those who are deep in knowledge say: We believe that it is from our Lord. And no one receives education except those with understanding. (Surah: Ale Imran, Ayat: 6)
Concerning the third type of verse, Irshad has said, ‘It is a good book, I have revealed it to you, so that people may understand its verses and the people of understanding may take admonition. (Surah: Saad, Ayat: 29)

It is necessary to believe in the three types of verses mentioned. Especially the second type of verse, about which it has been said — ‘Those who are deep in knowledge say, we believe it, all come from our Lord’ and the third type of verse — whether the person knows its interpretation or not. If the Companions of the Qur’an, the Tabi’i, the Tabi-Tabi’i and the Mujtahid scholars agree on any interpretation of the verses which are left to be interpreted, then there is no room for the latter to come up with a new interpretation. And if more than one explanation is given by the predecessors, then the one which seems more correct will be accepted. However, do not consider any explanation final.

If he does not understand the meaning and significance of any verse of the Holy Qur’an, then he will be held responsible for his lack of knowledge and limited intellect. Because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) conveyed the Book revealed to him to the Ummah properly and also explained it to them properly. In the Holy Qur’an, it has been said, ‘We have revealed the Qur’an to you, in order to make clear to mankind what was revealed to them. So that they think. (Surah: Nahl, verse: 44). And the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked about this duty, listen! Have I reached you? Then the Companions said, “Yes.” Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, O Allah! You are the witness. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 606)
