Playing real money poker can be easy or hard depending on your level of expertise, but no matter who or what kind of player you are. No matter who or what they are, though, anyone is capable of finding themselves holding onto an impressive hand by accident – experienced players tend to focus more intently on building one than novices do, yet beginners might still come upon one by accident (but must know what makes for an ideal hand first!).

To achieve victory, though, requires careful play; an accidental discovery doesn’t count! Some hands will immediately lead to victory and give you an edge or some hands are simply “bad” hands. To play real money poker, you need to know the difference so you can minimize losses and maximize profits on the best online poker sites.

Below we will look at some of the top ten hands you can have in poker.

Top ten list of poker hands.

  1. Royal Flush
  • A royal flush is the best hand anyone in poker can have. It consists of five consecutive cards of the same suit and has an order of ten to ace. This is the best hand you can have, and as a result, it’s a big deal if it’s ever seen in a tournament.

2. Straight flush

  • The straight flush is similar to the royal flush in that it must be consecutive suits, but instead of ten to ace, it must simply be successive values (ex., a hand of 2-6 red hearts). To beat this hand, you must have a royal flush or another straight flush with high-valued cards.

3. Four of a kind

  • As the name suggests, this hand has four of the same cards but in four different suits. For this hand to succeed, the final card must be the highest on the table.

4. Full house

  • This hand gets formed once you have accumulated three cards of the same value within three suits and you have two cards of the same value but in different suits. The player with the highest valued three cards is the one who will win if other players have a full house. The term “Full House” may also be one of the best-known in poker and has seen its name used as video game titles as a result.

5. Flush

  • This hand does not have the same allure as the royal or straight flush. This hand is five cards of the same suit, but they do not have to be in order.

6. Straight

  • Five cards that have a consecutive value but have many suits mixed between them.  An ace can normally rank as low (below a 2) or high (above a king) but not at the same time in one hand.

7. Three of a kind

  • Again as the name would lead you to believe, this hand consists of three cards of the same value but different suits amongst each of them. To make the hand formidable, the two highest available cards, besides the three of a kind, complete the hand.

8. Two pair

  • For this hand to get formed, you must have two sets of cards, each with the same value (ex., Two nine spades and two six clubs). Then the last card should be the high-ranked card you can get any better than the other players.

9. Pair

  • Having two cards of the same value and suit forms this hand. Then the last three cards must be the highest-valued card available.

10. High card

  • By its position on the list, this hand is not as formidable as the other but remains good if it’s better than the other players. This hand is made good thanks to the highest valued card of the five cards. If everyone has a high card hand, the player with the most valued hand will win. The highest card in hand is your ‘best hand.’ In this case, it’s the king of spades.

These hands are some of the best hands you can have in poker. But, of course, the game’s outcome ultimately depends on the other players. For any hand to xbe formidable, it must surpass those held by other players. But if you believe one or more of these hands to be superior and lay them down when possible, your odds of victory increase considerably.
