A Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli forces near a security checkpoint in the West Bank. Hours later, a Palestinian teenager was shot dead by an Israeli gunman in the West Bank Tekoa area. Israeli forces have claimed that the teenager was trying to break into a Jewish settlement. A total of two Palestinians were killed in two separate incidents in the West Bank on Sunday. News Reuters.
The killings came just hours after Israeli forces detained two Palestinians suspected of killing three people in the city of Ilad.
The Israeli military says troops saw a suspect in the Tulkarim area yesterday trying to illegally break through a West Bank security fence. He was later shot dead by Israeli forces.
An army spokesman said steps had been taken to apprehend the suspects. Fresh shots have been used. The Palestinian health ministry said the man had died.
Hours later, the Israeli military claimed that an Israeli civilian had shot a Palestinian with a knife as he tried to enter the West Bank settlement of Tekoa. The Palestinian Ministry of Health says the 17-year-old Palestinian teenager was killed on the spot.
Israeli police say a Palestinian has stabbed one of their officers near the Old City of Jerusalem. That Palestinian was also shot. Both are being treated for injuries.
Earlier on Thursday, police conducted a three-day operation to nab the fugitive suspects in the murder of three people in Ilade. The two men were captured in a jungle near Ilad yesterday, according to the Israeli military. The suspects were identified as residents of a village near the West Bank town of Jenin, Israel said.
