I prefer to use embellishments in my junk journaling that I’ve made myself. I don’t often buy washi tape or stickers. When I did buy rolls of washi tape and boxes of stickers, I often got bored with the patterns and colors over time. By making my own, I can make smaller amounts and have an endless array of different designs to play with when I collage and decorate junk or bullet journal pages.
How To Use Custom Washi Tape In Bullet Journalling
A relatively new trend on the crafty scene is bullet journalling, this is where you create a trackable diary which highlights areas of your life which you’d like to track. It’s less decorative that traditional scrapbooking and art journalling and more a regular ritual – in this setting, Custom Washi tape can help to bookmark, create margins and organise your thoughts into a neat system. The sky is the limit when it comes to the layout, you can use an empty notebook to start your journey or buy a bullet journal with some pages laid out already.
Washi Tape is intended as a decorative tape for packaging. It doesn’t have the same strength as other packing tapes to seal packages because of the thinner natural material it’s made from.
For a more heavyweight option than Custom Washi Tape, our Custom Water-Activated Tape can be designed in whatever color scheme, pattern or logo variation takes your fancy!
Our water-activated tape is sustainable due to having no plastic coating, unlike regular tape. Its stickiness is activated by applying a damp sponge to one side.
If you’re not worried about having a custom design, then there’s Self Adhesive Kraft Tape as a more durable, tamper-proof option. This tape is made from Kraft paper and is 100% compostable or recyclable. It’s activated by pressing the tape down on the box or packaging surface.
Another great protective option is our Custom Reinforced Gummed Tape. The reinforced paper tape needs a sharp object to cut through it for the package to open, making it more tamper-proof than most tapes.
How To Use Custom Washi Tape For Accessories

Washi Tape’s stickiness doesn’t need to be activated – peel it off the roll, and it’s ready to go! It doesn’t require any tools like a tape dispenser either, as it can be easily torn by hand.

Wooden Pins
Wooden pins are also very versatile and can be used in a variety of different projects, including cabinetry, furniture-making, and even in the construction of wooden toys and puzzles. They can be used to connect two pieces of wood at right angles, to secure joints, or to provide additional support.
In addition to their practical uses, wooden pins are also a great choice for crafting and decorating projects. They can be stained or painted to match the surrounding wood, or they can be left in their natural state for a rustic look. They can be used to create decorative elements, such as pins or pegs, or they can be used to secure fabric or other materials to a piece of wood.
To add interest to your scrapbook journaling, try writing over top of one or more of your washi tapes. You will want to use either a plain colored washi tape or one with space in it to fit the writing.
You will see in the photograph below that I found a tape that had a nice white stripe in the middle of it that was just perfect for journaling over the top.
Really shiny or glossy washi tapes are not suitable for this as the ink can’t soak in and dry however, washi tape that has a matte finish (non-shiny) should work great.
