What is the latest Apple News?

No matter how well you plan, however, there will always be surprises. As such, we’ve gathered some tips and tools to make sure you get the most out of end up getting distracted on your quest to stay on top of the news. The publicist in me wants to say your job is easy, but the journalist in me is saying don’t fall for it.

Once you’re signed up with Apple News, the first thing you’ll want to do is check for relevant stories from the main feed and the sections you follow. These can be more specific if you choose to check up on the main feed by “following” specific people or topics like Apple News Today, Apple News Report, Apple News Special Edition, and Apple News After Hours.

Next, it’s time to set your alarms. Every morning, you’ll be notified when Apple News stories or videos from specific topics will be posted, so you can catch up on the best of the day. Plus, it gives you the chance to preview a few articles to decide if they’re right for you. (If not, that’s OK, too. Read on.)

From here, you can check in on several special sections that are still available. For instance, check out what’s in the Apple News Today and Apple News Special Edition sections or hit over to the Apple News After Hours tab for everything posted during the last hour of the night.

While there’s no guarantee you’ll read every article in every section, it’s worth the extra effort to get a comprehensive sampling of what Apple has to offer.

If you’re on an iPhone or iPad, you’ll be able to share your updates in iMessage with the Like button. Tap it when you see a good story and the app will send it to your contacts. On the web, the Share button will bring you to the Share Sheet where you can send the article directly to your friends.

One more note before we get to the fun part: Apple News goes offline from time to time, including when Apple releases new updates. That means the app might be a little less responsive than usual, so be sure to check it once in a while.

What if you want to turn off alerts?

Now that we’ve made it through all the best tips, let’s talk about what’s missing from Apple News.

Many news websites offer “lockdown mode,” so their pages aren’t visible to anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their service. To Find Apple News that feature, start with the relevant publication’s app or site, then tap the menu icon on the right side of the page. Tap on Restrictions and choose to “Limit Access,” “Ignore All,” or “Allow All.”

If you choose “Ignore All,” Apple News will let you subscribe to the publication. If you choose “Restrict Access,” you’ll need to manually add the publication to the account that is managed by Apple News. This won’t happen automatically, though. You’ll have to make the change yourself.

If you decide to limit access, then Apple News won’t send you push notifications for articles published to the publication. That includes breaking news, updates about new features, and other key events. You can see the last time Apple News sent you a push notification in the menu at the top right-hand corner of the app.

What if I want to uncheck all the news sources in Apple News?

That’s right, you can do that!

If you want to remove any news source from the app, click on the menu button on the top right-hand side of the screen, choose Settings, then Privacy, and scroll down until you see News Sources. Next, select an outlet from the list, then hit “Unsubscribe.”

Note that there is also a separate section that is more focused on your general interests. You can select Apple News Interests to learn about related stories, videos, apps, etc. to your liking.
