The original concept of “EDC” was a product of the Cold War era in the U.S. and Soviet Union, when security is not guaranteed, the survivalist community and the group’s sense of preparedness grew, and they began to consider carrying tools that favored survival functions every day, such as Swiss Army knives, water purification tablets, and other outdoor items, in order to be prepared.
As the economy continues to grow and the world situation stabilizes, EDC has evolved its own new concept following the times. Compared with the early days, EDC has long evolved into a diversified cultural content, which can become both an attitude toward life and a way to show their own taste, rather than being limited to a certain type of military products, and survival necessities.
Today’s EDC life is the popular form of EDC culture in the life of the public, such as the most common four sets of necessary to go out: ID, phone, keys, and wallet.
