At the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and under the supervision of Sylhet District Administration, there was a pleasant cultural program on the occasion of the inaugural program.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament, Boys (Under-18) 2022 and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament, Girls (Under-17) – 2022 One lakh 10 thousand 558 players are participating.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Foreign Minister said, “The competition will create a sense of mutual brotherhood and respect through this huge event. A team spirit will develop. This kind of team spirit is very necessary in our national life.
He said, ‘Our national leaders, our leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has always accepted his opponent with great respect. Through this game we as brothers and sisters have to accept them in a very sincere way. And through this all kinds of misdeeds will go away from us. ‘
Dr. Momen said, ‘I have noticed that almost all the players who play well in the national team are from Gramganj or Muffsball. My question is why boys and girls are doing well in sports? Why aren’t the boys and girls of Dhaka doing well? Many have said that there is not much field in Dhaka. There are many fields in Muffsball or Gramegonj. Our boys and girls are playing in them so they are doing well. So I want to build a few more fields in Sylhet through our children’s sports. ‘

This time 8,904 players from 4,561 unions and 4,626 teams of 256 municipalities across the country will participate in the boys (under-17) competition, 1,224 players from 6 teams including 64 district and 6 city corporations at district level.
98,630 boys from all over the country including 144 members of the last 6 divisional teams got the opportunity to participate. Although the boys ‘competition was held at the upazila level, the girls’ competition started from the district level. 11 thousand 728 girls from all over the country will take part in this competition.
Besides, a total of 1982 boys in 105 unions and 4 municipalities at the upazila level of Sylhet district, 252 boys and 252 girls in 13 upazilas and 1 city corporation at district level will participate. The Ministry of Youth and Sports selects 40 talented boys and 40 talented players from this age based tournament and arranges for their training.
In the meantime, 4 talented players have been sent to Brazil for advanced training and since 2021, 11 boys have been sent to Brazil and 11 girls to Portugal.
