There are 62 kilometres/38 miles between Pokhara and Poon Hill. A road distance of 44 kilometres separates Pokhara Nayapul from Poon Hill, and a hiking distance of 22 kilometres separates Nayapul from Poon Hill. Since the 22 km hike cannot be completed in one day due to the ascent trekking routes, a night must be spent in Tikhedhunga or Ulleri. There is a distance of 15 kilometres between Ulleri and Ghorepani.

Routes for the Poon Hill Trek
Pon Hill trekking begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. As you continue your trek to Ghorepani, you will pass Tikhedhunga. A beautiful Gurung settlement can be found in Ghorepani, 3,194 m above sea level.
Poon Hill has a height of 3,210 meters. From a vantage point along Dhaulagiri’s axis and the Annapurna range, you can view the beautiful morning sunrise. In order to catch a drive from Nayapul to Tadapani, you need to cross Tadapani and trek towards Ghandruk. A retrace of the earlier route will conclude the trek.
Pokhara to Kathmandu travel time
There are three ways to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu. It is possible to travel by bus, plane, or private car/jeep.
A 30-minute flight is involved in taking the plane. When you take the first flight in the morning and the weather is clear, you can have breakfast along Fewa Lake in Pokhara on time.
The trip will take you around 7 hours by private vehicle, including stops. If you travel in a private vehicle, you have the option of starting later in the morning if you wish (although it is advisable to depart early) and stopping wherever you wish for pictures, etc. Tourist buses (standard or deluxe) will take 7-8 hours, including stops. Kathmandu’s tourist buses leave around 7 am.
Nayapul to Pokhara travel distance
Pokhara is the starting point of the adventure, but Nayapul is the real start of the trek. There is a 45-kilometre distance between Pokhara and Nayapul. The road between Kathmandu and Pokhara is more well-maintained and flatter. Nayapul is about a 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Pokhara. There are both public buses and private vehicles available for transportation.
From Pokhara, how do I get to Nayapul?
Local buses depart from Baglung bus park every 14 minutes to Nayapul. If you hire a private car or taxi, it takes two hours to drive from Pokhara to Nayapul.
Nayapul is about 1.5 hours away from Pokhara by private vehicle. It might be a good idea to leave a little later in the morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. If you leave Pokhara too late, you will have to walk around 4 or 5 hours to reach Nayapul. The advantage of having your own transportation is that you can drive straight to Tikhedhunga, eliminating the need to walk the first day. There is a public bus leaving every hour. There is a two-hour drive between Pokhara and Nayapul.
Walking hours for Poon Hill Trekking
The daily walking distance is 10 to 11 kilometres (6 hours), which is relatively easy for the Himalayas. It is possible to complete this trek in three, four, or five days. I recommend taking on the 5-night walk, as it will give you greater access to nature, the mountains, local communities, and personal reflection at a lower elevation.
Can altitude sickness occur?
The Poon Hill trek is a low-altitude trek. Because you will only ascend to 2855 meters, you will not experience high altitude sickness.
What is the level of fitness required for Poon Hill Trekking?
As this is one of the easier treks in the Annapurna region, there is no fitness level requirement. An individual with a moderate level of fitness can participate in this fitness trek for 4-5 hours.
