With all the developments in the technology sector, we can all agree that Apple stars in the list of best tech companies of our generation. The popular luxury technology brand strives to produce exquisite products that attract a wide range of customers and also provide world-class service.

Apple is yet on another adventure and has now come up with an idea to produce an iPhone, which is the alternative to an Android smartphone, that has no bezels and no notch on the display panel. It seems Apple will take some inspiration from other smartphone devices that tried to do this trick early on, as Samsung did with its fold smartphone, in which the front-facing camera is beneath the display screen.

The iPhone 10 was the first smartphone in Apple’s lineup to feature extremely thin side bezels and a rather deep notch at the top to conceal the selfie camera and facial Identification when it was released in 2017. It was also the first iPhone to do away with the fingerprint scanner-included home button on the display. Even until Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Pro series last year, its design stayed almost unchanged.

Later the company modified the design and named the notch – dynamic island. As for the latest news and rumors, it is safe to say that those things will be a thing of the past.

Apple is collaborating with Samsung and LG to create a bezel-less, notch-less display, according to Leakster Ice Universe via the South Korean newspaper The Elec. The OLED display, which has been utilized since the iPhone 12 series, will still be used by the firm. According to the source, Apple intends to stick with flat panels, in contrast to many Android competitors that use curved displays on their mid-range products. Also, a bezel-free iPhone would resemble a giant glass slab in your hand, which might result in some unintentional touches.

According to the source, Apple intends to position the camera and other necessary sensors below the display, much like Samsung did with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It is necessary to resolve the thin film encapsulation (TFE) and under-panel camera (UPC) technologies in order to have a bezel-less screen. The OLED is shielded by TFE from oxygen and moisture.

Bezel-free smartphones are nothing new, but mainstream manufacturers haven’t fully incorporated this technology into their production lines. Xiaomi unveiled a prototype phone in 2021 using Quad Curved Waterfall Display technology, which completely encloses the sides of the screen.

The notch-less, bezel-less iPhone’s launch information is yet unknown, but we can anticipate that it may take Apple another year to choose this particular design. In September of this year, Apple is anticipated to introduce the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series. Apple will keep the same display sizes for all four iPhones in the series — 6.1 inches (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro) and 6.7 inches, according to several reports (iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max). But it’s anticipated that every new phone this year will have a dynamic island notch that changes size based on the notification.

While all the rumors can be accounted for, it is also possible we may not see the bezel-less, notch-less display any soon and have to wait for a couple more years to see the final product or even a temporary model.
