The Swiss-based company CIS released its annual report on footballer exports earlier this month, the 25th edition. There are 1219 footballers playing in different leagues from Brazil to abroad till May 1.
AdvertisingFrance ranks second in the list with 98 footballers. Argentina, another football-crazy country in South America, is in the third place with the export of 615 footballers.
However, the position of the federations of the three countries varies in the percentage of footballers playing in different leagues abroad. Ninety percent of French players play in foreign leagues. 48.1 percent of footballers are playing abroad from Argentina and 3.5 percent from Brazil. 525 footballers are playing in foreign leagues from England. England is the fourth largest exporter of players abroad. Exporting 441 footballers, 425 footballers play in foreign leagues from five Germany and six Colombia.
Spain has 409 footballers playing in foreign leagues, seven of them in the list. The main destination for most of the Brazilian players is in the Portuguese league. According to the report, there are 221 Brazilians in Portugal. There are 106 French players in England. There are 106 Argentines in Chile. English footballers play mainly in Wales (148) and Scotland (114).
