Speakers paid homage to the late Muhith at the memorial service and prayer mahfil organized by Bangabandhu Foundation at Tejgaon College Auditorium in the capital on Monday evening.
Muhith’s younger brother, President of the Bangabandhu Foundation and Foreign Minister. Former Secretary M Mokammel Haque, a friend of the late Muhith, was the keynote speaker at the commemoration meeting presided over by AK Abdul Momen.
Recalling the late Muhith, Mokammel Haque said, “Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has always tried and succeeded for the development of the country.” The late Muhith as the Finance Minister has made a special contribution in taking bold steps to implement the Padma Bridge with the country’s own funds.
Recalling the personality of the late Muhith, the former secretary said he never boasted of power. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The country and the people have benefited a lot from his extraordinary wisdom.
Foreign Minister said in a statement. “In the death of Muhith Bhai, I have not only lost my elder brother but also a true friend and a sincere colleague,” Momen said. At the same time, the country has lost an invaluable resource.
He said, “Brother Muhith is mine, he was a mentor for many of us.” Going to commemorate the late Muhith, he said, “Brother Muhith has shown honesty, sincerity, determination and people can carry out any good deed if they have the will.” Muhith Bhai used to take all the good ideas of the world and use them for the country.
Dr. Momen said, “In this occasion, we need to pledge in memory of Muhith Bhai and pay homage to him, that we all love the country sincerely and work for the country.”
