Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, introduced the National Education Policy (NEP) on Sunday at Kurukshetra University (KU). Kurukshetra University is the first university in the state to implement NEP with a defined structural template and specific curricula in its undergraduate programmes on its on-campus colleges, claims KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva.

Although the state has established a goal of implementing the NEP by 2025, according to Sachdeva, KU has already done so in the 2022 session. The four-year undergraduate programme at KU that combines honours with research is designed to give students an excellent education as well as opportunities for overall growth, he continued.

Khattar noted that because NEP is built on an all-encompassing strategy, it creates the framework for New India. Although numerous attempts to frame the NEP have been attempted in the past, Macauley’s education policy could not be removed from it. Important topics covered by NEP include holistic, transdisciplinary, and futuristic education, high-caliber research, and the use of internet technologies to improve educational outcomes.

He said, “We need to re-write our nation’s history and liberate it from the prejudices and distortions of western historians. NEP would undoubtedly pave the way for establishing India Visvguru once again and leading the world towards peace, sustainable prosperity, and brotherhood.”

To honour those who were “martyred at the time of partition,” he further said that a world-class “Shaheedi Smarak” (war memorial) will be constructed on roughly 25 acres in Pipli in the Kurukshetra area.

He urged the Panchnad Smarak Trust to begin building the “Shaheedi Smarak” as soon as possible.

Khattar stated that every sector of society should make sure to contribute in order for the “Shaheedi Smarak” to be recognised on a national level. He urged the populace to do their part in the “Shaheedi Smarak” construction project by remembering the sacrifices made by their forefathers. He continued by saying that he will contribute to the building both personally and on behalf of the state government.

The CM recalled the time of the partition and remarked that instead of being converted, our forebears preferred to be executed by beheading. He stated that it is now our duty to pass on these tales to the following generations in order to guarantee that they are aware of the struggle and sacrifice of their predecessors.
