What is a Security Officer?

To work as a Security Officer, it is not necessary to obtain any authorization from the Ministry of the Interior since the profession is not framed within the texts of the Private Security Regulations.

What is a Security Guard?
A Security Guard, like the Guard, is a worker who works in the field of Private Security. The main function is to protect property and real estate of all kinds. One of the advantages of the Guards is that private security has personalized services depending on the type of goods, and that is why up to 13 different specializations can be carried out through specific training.
The Security Guard needs a license from the Ministry of the Interior to be able to practice. In addition, he has to pass a theoretical exam and a physical one that the National Police Force does. This indicates that the Wardens have prior training and adequate training to carry out their duties.
The most common tasks of Security Guards are six:
- Protect property and real estate.
- Prevent criminal acts from being committed against the object that is being protected.

Differences between Security Officers and Security Guards
Going straight, the differences between a Security Officer and a Security Guard are the following:
- Security Surveillance integrates the texts of the Private Security Regulation, while Security Guards are not included in this regulation.
- The Security Guard requires a license granted by the Ministry of the Interior. On the other hand, the security officer does not need to be authorized by the Ministry to be able to carry out his work.
- The Warden has to pass an examination process (theoretical and physical) by the National Police Force.
- The Security Guard is trained to carry firearms in exceptional situations and with prior authorization from the State. The Security officer may not carry weapons under some circumstances.
- The Guards are considered subordinates of the Security Forces and Corps, which is why they often work in a coordinated manner to collaborate with the security of citizens. On the other hand, security officers do not have this same consideration.
- Finally, following the appropriate protocols, a Warden can search bags and identifications and perform searches for justified reasons. The Security officer, for his part of it, does not have this authorization.
