He was elected by a close committee of one and a half thousand members on Sunday. 1,418 members voted for him. Only eight people voted against him. He was the only candidate in the election.

However, the people of Hong Kong have protested against the election with only one candidate in the Chinese style. The police stopped them when a small party tried to enter the scene to protest before the vote.

Lee has promised to turn Hong Kong into an international city and make it stronger for a competitive world.
