How to prepare for your pedicure?
Before starting the foot pampering session, you need to gather all the required supplies, like –
- Nail polish
- Nail polish remover
- Cuticle pusher
- Cotton balls
- Foot cream
- Cuticle oil
- Foot file
- Nail clipper
Once you have all these things handy, it’s time to start with the next step, which is the pedicure process.
Steps to follow while doing pedicure at home
Step 1 – Start with prepping your nails
For doing the professional level pedicure at home, you need to begin with the first step which is prepping your nails. Start with removing the nail paint by using a good quality nail paint remover. Along with removing the chipped nail color, this step also ensures removing the dirt sitting on the nails. Even if you haven’t applied nail polish, still you have to use nail polish remover. This will remove impurities and accumulated dirt.
Step 2 – Soak and relax
Once your nail cleaning process is done, move ahead with the next step and soak your feet in water to soften the hard skin near the nails. Fill a tub with warm water, and keep your feet in it for around 15 minutes. You can add Epsom salt, essential oils or vinegar for getting the spa feeling at home.
Step 3 – Remove the dead skin
Soaking makes the skin soft due to which the process of scrubbing becomes easier. It removes dead skin accumulated on the heels and feet. Once you are done with the exfoliating, bring the feet out from the tub and pat them dry. Now, use a foot file or pumice stone and rub it gently in the back and forth motion to sway away dead skin and dirt.
Step 4 – Cut and shape your nails
Now that you are done cleaning the dead skin, the next step is to cut and shape the nails. Pick the nail clipper and trim the nails to your desired length. Once the cutting is done, it’s time for shaping the nails by using a filer and buffer. Decide the shape in which you want your nails to be, whether square, almond or round. If you have given the desired shape to your nails, grab a buffer and buff the nail bed gently to even out the surface and remove uneven edges.
Step 5 – Use a few drops of cuticle oil and give a gentle massage
If you are thinking of avoiding cuticle oil massage, then please don’t do so. Applying this oil will keep your nails healthy and stronger. After finishing the cutting and shaping session, push your cuticles using a cuticle pusher and apply a few drops of cuticle oil around the nails and on the skin to protect them. Now, focus on massaging the feet. Use a bit of foot care cream and apply it over the feet, between the calves and toes. This will hydrate the skin and pamper the feet after soaking and scrubbing.
Step 6 – Paint your nails
Now comes the most important step that will add real beauty to your nails. Yes, we are talking about applying nail paint. First, apply the base coat, then let it dry. Once dried then paint your nails with the color of your choice and cover them with the top coat once dried.
This is how you can have the most beautiful feet by using the best pedicure products and following the aforementioned steps.
