How to Share Location on iPhone

Enable Location Sharing

To activate Location Sharing , or to verify that it is correctly activated, simply follow these steps:

  1. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
  2. Tap [First Name Last Name] at the top right.

  4. Enable the Share My Location switch .

Automatic Notifications if You Change Location

You know when your better half arrives at work and sends you the message “I’m at work”? Or when he comes out of the office and writes “I’m leaving, will I stop at the supermarket?”. Here, this type of message can be fully automated.  With the Find My app, you can receive an automatic notification when another person’s location changes . You can be notified when a person arrives at a place, for example, when they leave or when they are not in a specific place.

To set up automatic notifications about someone’s location just follow these steps:

  1. Tap People at the bottom left of the Find Me app screen, then select the name of the person you want to receive notifications for.
  2. Under Notifications, tap Add, then tap Notify Me .
  3. Choose whether you want to be notified when a friend leaves or reaches a location.
  4. Choose a specific location, your current location or tap “New Location” to create a new location and set its radius. With a wider radius, you will be notified when the other person approaches the location and not when they reach it.
  5. Choose whether you want to be notified once or for all time. If you set up a periodic notification, the other person must approve it first. You will be notified with an approval request the first time you reach or leave the position you have chosen.
  6. Tap Add, then confirm OK.

Bear in mind that, before even a momentary notification can be activated, the other person must first give explicit consent. The maximum number of active notifications at any time cannot exceed 25.

Change or Deactivate a Location Change Notification

To delete or make changes to a preset notification, simply:

  1. Tap People at the bottom left of the screen, then tap the name of the person for whom you want to change or turn off the notification.
  2. Under Notifications, tap the notification in question.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. Edit a notification: Edit its details and tap Done.
  5. Disable a notification: Tap “Delete Notification”, then tap “Delete Notification” again to confirm.
