As 9.1 million retail brands have gone online globally, giving adequate attention to data security and analysis are now key concerns of businesses across industries, with cloud-based technology holding greater popularity than ever before.

To learn more about cloud-based technology and its instrumentation, we sat down with Cloud Specialist and Manager at Deloitte Consulting, Kireeti Gudipati, to glean further insight from the rising industry professional.

Thanks so much for meeting with us today, Kireeti!

“Of course! Thanks so much for having me.”

Let’s get into it. It’s a new year and insights that we’ve gained from 2022 show us that the use of data is going to get a lot more prevalent across industries. Can you speak on how cloud-based tech will begin to play a greater role?

“Well for a large enterprise, they’d be holding onto a massive amount of data. The information an operation has is really only as good as it is useful. When you consider the insights a large company might have that inform its approaches to production, marketing, and management, it’s obvious having access to the appropriate insights is important. When you break down these individual concepts to consider both micro and macro strategies, such as improving the leadership of their team, it’s obvious that having a place for this data to keep it secure is vital.”

“More than 9 out of 10 enterprises in the world use some form of cloud-based technology, and while many are utilizing it in amazing ways, there are greater improvements to make. As cloud computing came around in its modern context in 2006, we still have a lot more exploring to do with the potential of this technology.”

What advice do you have for the smaller businesses that may think they don’t need to be thinking as much about data management?

“Start thinking about it now while you can, because a lot of businesses have been left in the mud over a lack of willingness to change and I think that’s just sad because the resources are there. With Deloitte Consulting I spend a lot of time with businesses, opening them up to these concepts. Once we’ve given a strategy and taken steps to implement the steps to help a business achieve its goals, they realize that these are not so much ‘changes,’ but translating their message to a greater platform. I think if more businesses considered it that way then they’d be more open to it.”

Do you see this concept ever going away? With digital concepts, we’re typically taught that some advances are the way of the future, even in cases where that tech goes obsolete within the decade. What gives you the perspective you have on the cloud’s longevity?

“Honestly, in some way, shape, or form, data is always going to be a cornerstone to how a business advances. That sounds pretty generalized, but I do believe that this concept is really that all-encompassing. There are so many moving pieces to running an enterprise, and a big concern you have to keep at the forefront of your mind is staying connected to the factors that are affecting your business. Whether something is contributing to your success or your failures, knowing and implementing steps to change starts with keeping tabs on that information.”

“That’s what I’ve been trying to express to every client we’ve had, knowing your competition in the market might be important, but never as important as knowing yourself.”

Lastly, what does success mean to you?

“For me, success is the achievement of a desired goal, such as earning a name and garnering fame or wealth to a higher degree. It’s the positive consequence of one’s achievement that came from trying their level best. It’s like Maya Angelou said, ‘Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.’ I love what I do and I love how I do it, so I would say I’ve found a lot of success and I’m immensely grateful for the help I’ve had in getting here.”
