In a significant move to elevate Kazakhstan’s meat production industry, KazBeef, a subsidiary of Kusto Group, recently inaugurated a modernized plant in the Akmola region.

Yerkin Tatishev, Chairman of Kusto Group, has overseen the project. This milestone marks a new chapter in the company’s endeavour to enhance meat production and ensure self-sufficiency in the country.

KazBeef, under the stewardship of Kusto Group and Yerkin Tatishev, has taken a colossal step forward in revolutionizing Kazakhstan’s meat production sector. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the plant is poised to provide high-quality meat to domestic and international markets.

The new facility increases its capacity from 2000 to 6000 tons and integrates sophisticated technology, setting a new benchmark in meat production. Yerkin Tatishev, Chairman of Kusto Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the project:

” I think Kazakhstan should become the leader in the region for the production of all types of meat. We have the potential to make the Kazakh agricultural industry occupy half of the country’s economy. The agricultural industry should become more important than the oil and gas industries because it is renewable. New technologies are also of great importance. It is important that the agricultural industry is environmentally friendly,” he explained.

KazBeef’s Akmola plant was upgraded with de-boning and packaging machinery, along with the introduction of Skin Pack – a technology for vacuum sealing individual steak portions, which began operations in June.

Following these improvements, meat grading apparatus and a second deboning line were added to the plant. Moreover, a distribution center linked to Metro Cash and Carry was constructed, boasting a storage capacity for up to 1000 tons of product.

The plant sources its cattle from numerous local farms in the vicinity. These farms utilize American methods for cattle fattening, ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply for the processing facility.

“Now, 70 percent of meat on the domestic market is supplied from bazaars and subsidiary farms. We want to change the situation by giving better quality for a good price. Food safety is a priority for us,” KazBeef CEO, Beibit Yerubayev, said.

“The consumer should purchase meat without the use of hormones and antibiotics. Our products are certified by the GFSI international food safety system. This certificate is recognized worldwide, and we will be able to export our products. We are proud to open the plant and at the same time, we are ready to share our experience with other entrepreneurs of the country,” he added.
