In this regard, the Minister further said that new equipment and technology will be added to 10,000 boats soon for the detection of fishing vessels in the sea. Under the Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries Project implemented by the Department of Fisheries, commercial fishing trawlers have Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and Artificial and Mechanical Fishermen have Automated Identification System (AIS) system (GISM).

He added that fish could not be caught in the sea by violating the law. In case of violation of the law, action will be taken against those involved in accordance with the recent Marine Fisheries Act and Mobile Court Act. The local administration, navy, coast guard and naval police will take action considering the situation. However, the helpless fishermen should not be harassed unnecessarily.

Rezaul Karim also said that stopping fishing means increasing the country’s fishery resources and working for the state. In this case, the fisheries department, local administration and law enforcement agencies as well as the members of the fishermen’s association should play a significant role in implementing the government’s policy. Fishermen will benefit if fish resources are conserved. The government is only working to ensure the interests of the fishermen and the common people of the country. Therefore, we have to work dedicatedly to stop illegal fishing.

The list of fishermen at the field level will be updated through strict monitoring, the minister said at the time. He also said that government assistance would not be given without real fishermen. Adequate VGF will be given to sea-going fishermen this year during the ban on fishing, the minister said. He also said that the Department of Fisheries and the Forest Department need to take concerted action regarding fishery resources and fishermen in the Sundarbans.

Noting that integrated management is very important for the protection of marine fisheries, the Minister further said that in many cases law enforcement has to face various undesirable situations. . This is not the case with ordinary fishermen. Here some miscreants create such a situation. No opportunity can be given for fish conservation and marketing during the ban. Those involved in mobile courts and other campaigns need to ensure this. Hilsa and other fish are spreading in different parts of the country through concerted efforts. On the one hand, as research on fish is increasing, so is fish production. The concerned people have to take all necessary steps to protect the fisheries.
