The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is an electronic visa waiver, launched in July 2019. It allows eligible citizens to travel to New Zealand for tourism, business, or transit without the hassle of filing visa documents. The embassy visa waiver is now a mandatory requirement for nationality, as well as airline and cruise line crews of all nationalities to have an eTA NZ for travel to New Zealand.
The New Zealand ETA allows multiple entries for short-term visits during the validity period and is valid for 2 years. ETA for airline and cruise crews is valid for 5 years from the date of New Zealand approval. Eligible citizens can apply online through the easy New Zealand eTA visa application. Applicants must complete the New Zealand eTA application form with personal and passport information. They must answer some questions about the criminal history and whether the applicant is receiving treatment in New Zealand.
A small processing fee and travel fee are also required to receive an approved ETA for New Zealand via email. Those who wish to travel to New Zealand for a longer stay, or to work or study, will need a visa and will need to contact their nearest New Zealand embassy or consulate for more information.
How to apply for one
However, unlike most regular visas required to go to the embassy, NZeTA is applied online instead. The application starts by filling out the online application form. This form asks all general personal questions such as date of birth and expected date of arrival. You must also specify the purpose of your travel, tourism, business, medical, or transit. Extra care should be taken while filling in the passport details. NZeTA Visa is electronically linked to your passport number. If the number entered in the application form is incorrect, airlines and customs will not be able to tell if you have been granted a visa. You will not be allowed to board the plane in New Zealand. After completing everything, you will have to pay for the visa. Visas are then issued within an average of 5 working days.
NZeTA visa requirements
To apply for an NZeTA, a number of requirements must be met The passport used to apply for this must be valid for at least 3 more months after the scheduled date of departure from New Zealand. A return or front ticket must be booked in advance before departure. You must be able to prove that you have sufficient financial means to pay for your full stay. Working in New Zealand is not allowed under any circumstances, even if it concerns the work of unpaid volunteers. Although you are allowed to go on business trips with NZeTA, this does not include actual labor. Finally, you can’t get 5 years or more in prison. Additionally, if you have been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison in the last 10 years, you are not eligible for NZeTA.
Failure to comply with New Zealand visa law may result in immediate deportation and even a complete ban on submission of any future application.
