UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Russian capital, Moscow, on Tuesday. He will also attend a meeting and lunch with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on April 26.
According to the BBC, it is unlikely that anything will be expected from this meeting. Because so far, many diplomatic efforts have failed.

The news says that the main focus of Putin-Guterres talks will be the besieged city of Mariupol. Russia claims victory over the city. However, they have not yet taken control of the Ajwastal steel plant in the city.

The factory is home to hundreds of civilians, as well as members of the Ukrainian security forces.

Ukraine has demanded a guarantee from the United Nations to play a humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal factory.

The UN secretary general is also expected to visit Kiev next Thursday. There he will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Russia and Ukraine are both founding members of the United Nations.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine as separate independent states. On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. Russian forces have captured several Ukrainian cities in a two-month operation.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is trying to build resistance to the best of its ability.
