Despite the ongoing bear market, we have seen many significant partnerships between the crypto industry and various other major industries such as the sports and fashion industry. A big trend we are currently seeing is the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into these and other industries. Not only are major industries partnering with crypto firms, but even celebrities are getting involved in the crypto sphere.
One of the latest partnerings between a crypto firm and a celebrity involves a world-renowned Hollywood actor and an NFT company focusing on NFT minting and promotion services. Hollywood icon Sir Anthony Hopkins and NFT creative media company, Orange Comet have announced that together, they will soon be launching an NFT collection. This NFT collection will be inspired by the actor’s film career through the characters he has portrayed as well as his own personal artwork.
The NFT collection will be known as “The Eternal Collection”, and will consist of ten archetypes that will be based on the psychological attitudes of human personalities including the hero, the creator, the giver, the lover, and the rebel. Other NFTs in the collection will be inspired by Hopkins’ paintings and will be re-simulations. Each will be an animated short narrative story that ranges from 30 seconds to one minute – with 100 variants of each.
The last one, Hopkins’ favourite, is inspired by one of the most famous characters he played, Hannibal Lecter. Orange Comet CEO, Dave Broome mentions that “we asked ourselves, how do we marry his art that he’s done, the vibrancy, along with the kinds of archetypes of characters that Hopkins has played over the years” to create this collection. Orange Comet explains that the collection will run for 3 days. During this period, collectors will have access to over 1000 unique images of the actor based on the abovementioned inspirations.
Hopkins is the oldest actor to receive an Oscar at the age of 83 and expresses that “I’m probably the oldest guy in the NFT community and on social media, which proves all is possible at any age”. Hopkins says he first became interested in NFTs after he released his film, Zero Contact exclusively as an NFT on Vuele, a Web3 creative platform.
The actor explains that “NFTs for me are a blank canvas to create art in a new format” and added that “my message is, it’s fun to be the old guy on the block because I’m interested in and fascinated by young people. A young generation is totally different to me, everyone seems younger than me now. But inspiration is reciprocal. So I hope to also return some inspiration to people by saying that everything is possible. Give it a whirl, have a go”.
Researchers at The Bitcode Prime headquarters argue that despite the current bear market, people are craving high-quality projects and he believes that that is exactly what this collaboration with Hopkins will be. Broome explains that “these are high pedigree projects, and opportunities that will always sustain no matter what, and that’s what we expect here”. He adds that “it’s great timing actually because of the appetite for something of this high fidelity with this kind of an iconic talent. This is about IP, art and brands, and taking Hopkins as both an artist and a brand to the world”.
This special collaboration is evidence that age is just a number and there is no age limit on trying new things, even if they are as daunting as dabbling in the crypto industry and broadening one’s horizon.
