Rishab Shetty was born Prashanth Shetty on 7 July 1983 in Keradi Village, Kundapur, Udupi, Karnataka. He did his Bcom at BHS College Jayanagar before doing his MBA at Christ College, Bangalore. It was after the advice of his father, a renowned astrologer, that he changed his screen name to Rishab Shetty.
It was his childhood desire to become an artist. During his college days, he was an active member of the theatre group of BHS.
After his graduation, he was keen on taking up acting as a profession. While looking into various opportunities that could earn him a job as an actor, he worked in several jobs like selling water cans and real estate and also did hotel work.
