Noting that a new epidemic could start from a single carrier of the virus, he added that having an epidemic under control does not mean that we are safe from another epidemic. That is why we must always be ready.
The CDC’s country director added that public health achievements during the Corona epidemic must be put to good use in the future. We need to continue building manpower for public health in Bangladesh. In addition, laboratory and surveillance systems need to be strengthened to detect new and emerging germs. Therefore, the necessary infrastructure and skills need to be developed in Bangladesh to deal with all kinds of public health emergencies.
Noting that the problem of antibiotic use is growing at an alarming rate around the world, Nellie Kydos said that antibiotics are a threat and need to be controlled in humans, livestock and the environment. This is a priority for the Government of Bangladesh and the United States.
