The mother’s injection is pushed into the newborn’s body

A private clinic in Brahmanbaria has been accused of pushing an injection given to its mother into the body of a newborn. The sick newborn has been kept in an incubator with another clinic.

The relatives of the newborn have lodged a written complaint with the Civil Surgeon on Sunday (May 8) afternoon.

According to the complaint, Sadia Akhter, wife of Sujan Akbar, a resident of Chapuir village in Machihata union of Sadar upazila, gave birth to a son by Caesarean section at Adi Dutch-Bangla Diagnostic Center and Hospital in Brahmanbaria town on the night of May 8. The doctor prescribes various drugs as well as an injection in the prescription for maternity. Asha, a nurse at the clinic, pushed the injection into the newborn’s body instead of giving birth on Saturday evening. The newborn fell ill.

Sujan Akbar, the father of the newborn, said that after the incident, the people of the clinic fled without giving any treatment to the newborn. The newborn is then taken to another clinic and placed in an incubator. He demanded punishment from the clinic authorities for the incident.

Sohail Mia, managing director of Adi Dutch-Bangla Diagnostic Center and Hospital, admitted the allegations and said the newborn was fine now. All measures have been taken for his treatment.

Dr. Brahmanbaria Civil Surgeon. Muhammad Ekram Ullah said necessary steps would be taken after investigating the allegations.
