In a Threads post on Wednesday, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri revealed the functionality and mentioned that the firm had only recently begun the limited test.

The new save feature is under the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of posts for users with the test enabled. We’re not sure why Instagram placed its bookmarks icon close to the like, comment, and share buttons, so Threads concealed the function behind the “More Options” option. Recently, X repositioned their iOS bookmark button to improve accessibility. Threads will experiment to find the best location for its new save option.

Since Instagram has allowed bookmarking since 2016, it makes sense that Threads will follow suit. When you want to look at a post but don’t have time to read it right away, the feature that allows you to save material for later is helpful. This is especially true if the post links to a more extensive article.

Since its launch last year, Threads has been steadily adding new features to attract users and compete with competing apps like X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Nostr, Post, and Spill. The platform announced last month that it was developing a “Trends” function to show popular subjects.

Threads disclosed during Meta’s fourth-quarter financial release that the platform has more than 130 million active monthly users.

In summary, Threads’ investigation into the feature enabling users to save posts signifies its continuous dedication to improving user experience and staying competitive with X, a prominent figure in the social media realm. Through the trial of post-saving functionality, Threads showcases a strategic adaptation to user demands, harmonizing with current trends in social media interaction. This initiative not only underscores Threads’ commitment to innovation but also positions it as a responsive player in the evolving landscape of social media platforms, seeking to cater to the preferences and needs of its user base.

This action highlights Threads’ ability to adapt and respond to user feedback and emphasizes its commitment to maintaining competitiveness in a dynamic market. As Threads undergoes continual evolution and innovation, introducing features such as post-saving establishes the platform as a formidable contender, furnishing users with valuable tools to organize and revisit content. The persistent competition with X motivates Threads to delve into novel functionalities, securing its relevance and appeal in the ever-shifting social media landscape.
