Storyline

Udaariyaan is all about love, from the point of view of three different characters. Tejo and Jasmine are just two young girls that live with their family in a small village in Punjab. Their parents want them to have the same opportunities in life as they did, but unfortunately, their only hope is to win the big lottery and move to Canada.

Tejo and Jasmine have very different lives. Tejo is well-educated and can easily get all the luxuries of Canada with her work profile or by marrying an equally learned NRI guy from Canada. Tejo’s thoughts, on the other hand, are profound and speak of nothing except being on Punjabi soil.

On the other hand, Jasmine (Isha Malviya), an urban woman with no dreams, starts her day as a routine, standing on her terrace watching planes taking off to Canada. She has no dreams or desires to fulfil. Jasmine owns nothing but the little patch of land on which she grows her vegetables.

Two sisters, diametrically opposite in thinking but linked by a common man Fateh (Ankit Gupta). Fateh (the male character) is a boxer who falls in love with Jasmin, who eventually becomes his lover. But he too, like Tejo is a believer in dreaming big and living it in Punjab. Jasmin also seeks her wedding with him.

We can say that there is a love story, of course, between Jasmine and Fateh. But there are twists in the love story which we have to reveal as it will be quite a spoiler. There is also the other man Jazz who wants to marry Tejo, for the good income that she will bring into his family, by being well-placed professionally. There is also confusion about Tejo and Fateh clashing, and Fateh ends up confessing his love to Tejo instead of Jasmine.

The story revolves around the life of a common man, Fateh who is set to marry Jasmine. But on their first wedding night, Fateh gets trapped in a far more complex tale when Jazz arrives at their doorsteps with a proposal to Tejo (Fateh’s friend). When Fateh’s buddy knocks up Jazz, who has come to discuss his partnership with Tejo, the complexity of the story develops. Fateh, on the other hand, feels that the alliance has arrived for Jasmine. Isha’s character is annoying and she is good at it. Her body language, expressions and dialogues warrant applause. Ankit is a nice guy. He has done a very good job and his mannerisms are endearing. Priyanka does her job well too but her dialogues are way too easy for a girl who came from the village.

The storyline is relatable and the characters are real. The actors too have done a great job in bringing their characters to life on screen. The show captures the life of a Punjabi-Canadian family, which makes it even more interesting.
