A new multiplayer feature from Detail, a firm that makes video editing and recording programs for Mac and iPhone, makes it simple for users to record a multi-camera podcast using two iPhones (or iPads) remotely.

To reduce editing costs, the multiplayer feature, which was introduced as an iOS update for Detail, also automatically synchronizes audio and video feeds between two devices. Additionally, you may easily alter the podcast to move between full-screen, picture-in-picture, and side-by-side layouts.

The business tested its Mac app in public beta for a year before releasing it on the App Store in 2022. Earlier this year, the firm launched its iOS application. The iPhone app has easy-to-use templates and tools for creating lesson videos, reaction videos, and video resumes. It also has teleprompters, AI captions, and a live green screen editor. With features like hashtag generation and AI-generated video captions, the Mac program makes editing videos easier.

The built-in microphones on the iPhone can be used to record audio. However, lavalier microphones—small microphones—can also be used to capture sounds with higher quality. The Detail app records audio and video locally, synchronizing them afterward. If you don’t have a mixer or external audio interface for different audio tracks, this is helpful.

Although you can record a call using programs like Zoom and Meet, Paul Veugen, the inventor of Detail, stated that podcasts don’t have to resemble video calls.

As our Mac product developed, we came to understand that our customers come to us for two things: fantastic short-form content that enables them to reach and grow an audience across all platforms and a fully edited podcast episode that they can share instantaneously. On the other hand, recording and camera setup on a Mac can still be somewhat difficult. Now, we reduce this to a few iOS taps. In an email to TechCrunch, Veugen said, “It feels like we finally deliver on our promise of making pro video accessible for everyone.”

He continued by saying that setting up several cameras is difficult and that Detail aimed to make it simple for designers to use iPhones to have the flexibility of multiple camera perspectives. Notably, users may already record simultaneously using both the front and back cameras with the iOS app.

With investors including Adjacent, TQ Ventures, Point Nine Capital, Connect Ventures, Hustule Find, Alexander Ljung, AnkeHuiskes, Hiten Shah, and Sten Tamkivi, Detail has raised a total of $7 million in capital.

Veugen mentioned that Detail plans to release features like AI-powered auto-editing (which was unveiled for Mac last week) and highlight clips for its iOS app in the upcoming weeks.

To sum it up, the latest feature introduced in the video app Detail allows users to capture multi-camera podcasts using iPhones effortlessly. This inventive feature offers content creators a practical and economical means to elevate the quality of their podcast productions. By harnessing the capabilities of multiple iPhones, podcasters can craft more captivating and visually engaging content, aligning with their audience’s changing tastes. This advancement marks a noteworthy stride in democratizing high-quality podcasting, making it more approachable and user-friendly, heralding a new era of creativity in the podcasting realm.
