Police arrested a man yesterday (May 9, 2022) from a village in Chandpur’s Hajiganj over a rape of a physically challenged girl.
The arrestee is, Md Shakil Hossain (28), son of Ruhul Amin, hailed from Menapur village under Rajargaon union of the upazila, reports our Chandpur correspondent quoting Mohammad Zobair Syed, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station.
The victim’s father filed a rape case with the police station yesterday following which police conducted a drive and arrested the youth from his village, the OC said.
According to case document, Shakil had developed a love affair with the girl over mobile phone.
Later, on May 4, the accused called the girl and took her to a nearby house and raped her there, it stated.
When police produced Shakil before a magistrate today, the court sent him to jail.
