The incident took place at Bariarhat in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong. Three RAB members were seriously injured. Two of the injured are being taken to Dhaka from Feni’s Bahasa Shahid Salam Stadium. The incident took place in Bariarhat municipality area of the upazila on Wednesday evening.
The injured are Shamim Kauser, Mokhlesur Rahman and Md. Pervez. RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Nurul Abshar confirmed the attack at around 9:30 pm. He said the injured were first taken to a private hospital in Bariarhat. From there the two seriously injured were taken to Feni Sadar Hospital. However, they have been referred to Dhaka for treatment.RAB’s Sadar Company Commander and Assistant Superintendent of Police Tahiat Chowdhury said at around 9 pm, ‘I just heard about the incident, now I am going to the spot. I don’t know the details yet. ‘
Attack on RAB in Dhaka
Jorarganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Khairul Alam said, ‘The incident of attack on them took place immediately after Maghrib. Senior law enforcement officials are coming to the spot. It is not possible to give details now. No one has been able to say who carried out the attack.
However, the locals said, ‘RAB members detained a private car in Bariarhat municipality. People were then called out as robbers and attacked.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Nurul Abshar said that Shamim Kauser and Mokhlesur Rahman were being airlifted to Dhaka in critical condition among the injured.
