Bangladesh’s football team, including Barrister Sumon, lost 5-0 to Congo in the first match of the Lawyers Football World Cup. The first match was played at the Youssef Bin Ali Stadium in Morocco on Sunday (May 8) at 12 midnight Bangladesh time.

Barrister Syed Saidul Haque Sumon, one of the members of the lawyers’ football team, said: “We lost to Congo in the first match. But fruit does not always write the whole history. We are happy to have the opportunity to be a part of history for the first time in the history of the world despite many adversities.

Former Bangladesh national footballer and BFF law officer Zillur Rahman Lajuk is the captain of the Bangladesh Bar Association. Co-captain Abdur Razzak, former co-secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman and manager Farhad Hossain Neon are the coaches of the team.

Current Senior Assistant Editor Mahfuz Bin Yusuf, Assistant Attorney General Masood Rana, Barrister Syed Saidul Haque Sumon, Advocate Bipu, Yasin, Ashraf, Hannan, Nazmul, Monir, Abdullah Al Mahmoud Masood, Advocate Tipu, Babu participated in the World Cup. .

The World Cup has been held every two consecutive years since 1983. The opening game of this year’s event was held on 7 May. The final match will be held on May 15.

In the 20th edition, 90 teams from 33 countries including Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Korea, Costa Rica, France, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Senegal, Turkey and Ukraine participated in six divisions. For the first time, a 22-member team from Bangladesh is participating in the master division called ‘Bangladesh Lawyers Football Club (BLFC)’.

Last Thursday (May 5) a team of Bangladeshi lawyers including Barrister Sumon went to Marrakesh, Morocco to take part in this World Cup.
