Here’s everything you need to know about Fire Giants in OSRS.

Combat activities in OSRS are great! You will be able to level your combat skills: hitpoints, attack, strength, defense, range, magic, and prayer through combat activities and also obtain loot and OSRS gold while doing so. Giants are a category of monsters you can choose to kill early in the game. There are four types of giants that become gradually harder. The lowest level giants are Hill Giants, followed by Moss Giants and Ice Giants. The strongest giants are the Fire Giants, and they are the best category of giants you can kill if you want to get OSRS GP.

All races of giants have a chance to drop a Giant Champion Scroll, so if you want an extra challenge, the Fire Giants might give you that. The Fire Giants are currently the only species of giants in OSRS that do not have a boss, but that doesn’t mean that you will get less OSRS GP while killing them. Hill Giants have the sporadic boss Obor, and Moss Giants have their sporadic boss Bryophyta. The Ice Giants have their Ice Queen who only drops the Ice Gloves, so she’s not considered an excellent way to get OSRS gold, but rather a mob you kill once for the gloves. Sadly, killing Fire Giants won’t give you further access to any boss. However, there are plenty of other reasons to choose to kill them. They are best killed on a Slayer task, and all Slayer masters except Turael or Spria assign them.

Loot You Can Get From Fire Giants OSRS

There are a few reasonably valuable pieces of loot you can get while killing Fire Giants. The Rune Scimitar is an early invaluable training weapon if you’re an Ironman. Another noticeable alchemy drop is the Fire Battlestaff that’s worth almost nine thousand GP. They frequently drop herbs, including Ranarr weed and other rare grimy herbs such as Avantoe, Dwarf weed, Cadantine, Kwuarm, or Lantadyme. This means you should bring Nature and Fire runes to cast High Alchemy. If you want to save space, use a Rune Pouch; a herb sack is also worth bringing for all the grimy herbs.

Are Fire Giants Great for Prayer Training?

There are better methods to train your Prayer skill even with higher combat levels. But if you are an early to mid-level player, the big bones that are a guaranteed drop with each giant kill are a great way to train Prayer. Even after efficiently killing monsters that drop better bones, Fire Giants remain a decent passive Prayer training method if you bring the Bonecrusher or the Bonecrusher Necklace.

These OSRS items can automatically crush the bones giving you half or the full amount of the Prayer XP (with the Elite Morytania diary completed) you would get by manually collecting and burying the bones. On top of this, the Fire Giants have a one in 20 chance to drop an Ensouled Giant Head, which translates into more Prayer XP or more OSRS GP if you choose to sell them on the Grand Exchange (GE). Bringing the Soulbearer (an item that can transport Ensouled Heads) back to the bank can also be beneficial.

Where to Farm Fire Giants in OSRS

  • Brimhaven Dungeon – The Brimhaven Dungeon is far from any teleportation spot, and you must pay an entrance fee. You also need to have level 34 woodcutting and an ax you can use in your inventory to go deeper in the dungeon, but you can use a cannon.
  • Catacombs of Kourend – the Fire Giants in the Catacombs of Kourend are higher than the normal level 86 Fire Giants. There are levels 104 and 109, and multiple of them can attack you simultaneously. This makes it ideal for using Protection Prayers (protect from melee), so you will greatly benefit from bringing gear with a high Prayer bonus such as the Proselyte armor or Bonecrusher Necklace. You’ll also get some of your prayer points restored by using the Bonecrusher or manually burying the bones. It’s ideal for semi-AFKing slayer tasks, and you’re also likely to get Dark Totem pieces. What’s more, you can teleport very close to the Catacombs entrance with a Xeric Talisman.
  • Giant’s Den – The Giant’s Den is an unpopular location because not many people know that the giants here also drop the Dark Totem pieces and your prayer gets restored, but you can also use a cannon. Another reason why it’s unpopular is that it’s very far from any teleport spots.
  • Isle of Souls Dungeon – To farm giants in the Isle of Souls Dungeon, you can use a cannon, but you have to run a great distance to reach the dungeon, and as such, a Stamina potion is a must.
  • Karluum Slayer Dungeon – Unless you have completed the elite Kourend and Kebos diary, you’ll need Boots of Stone or Boots of Brimstone to survive in the Karluun Slayer Dungeon. Still, you can use a cannon, and they are relatively close to both a bank and Konar.
  • Smoke Dungeon – The Smoke Dungeon is pretty far from teleports and only has single-way combat – you can only attack one giant at a time, but you can use a cannon and safe spot with range or magic.

More Reasons Why You Should Farm Giants

Like all the monsters who drop Big Bones, the Fire Giants drop the Long Bone and the Curved Bone. This can be a good enough reason to kill Fire Giants as they’re rare (one in 400 for the Long Bone and one in over five thousand for the Curved Bone). Regardless, the Construction XP you get from these two particular types of bones is a great bonus, especially since Construction is also an expensive skill to train, so you will also save OSRS GP.
