FOUNDATION OF SNACK VIDEO

Kuaishou is popularly known as Snack Video in India and Kwai in the rest of the world. It came into existence in the year 2011 through the joint efforts of Su Hua and Cheng Yixiao. Snack Video, as the name suggests is a video-sharing mobile application designed by Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co. Ltd has its headquarters in Beijing, China.

WHAT IS SNACK VIDEO?

The exciting and funny world of short videos is widely appreciated by all the users around the world.

In 2020, Snack Video Application had set the record of becoming one of the most downloaded entertainment applications on Google Play Store and App Store. The love it has received has also served in successfully defeating the popular social media platform named TikTok. It also allows the users to share funny and creative videos with their acquaintances on social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram.

IS SNACK VIDEO SAFE AND LEGAL?

We are all aware of the recent conflicts that have been arising between the Chinese Government and the rest of the world. Several allegations are imposed on all the Chinese applications asserting their failure in safeguarding the privacy of the users. The app does not have any age restriction and is open for downloading by any age group.

When numerous reports involving the death and suicide of the users while filming the videos came to light, the Government of India decided to take strict actions. It has declared Snack Video App to be unsafe, especially for the younger generation, as it portrays immoral and sensual content.

IS THE APP BANNED IN INDIA?

The Government of India realized that the Chinese applications are opposing the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. So on 29th June 2020, it decided to impose a ban on 59 mobile applications falling under Chinese jurisdiction.

Some of them include TikTok, SHAREit, Helo Lite, and PUBG Mobile. Soon after the ban of TikTok, a popular video-making application, Snack Video App started to gain popularity.

But its popularity was limited until the source of its operation got discovered. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center highlighted the stealing of privacy information and illegal trading of security secrets through the apps.

Therefore, the Government imposed a ban and blocked a total of 224 Chinese applications restricting their access in India. Here is a list of all the Chinese apps restricted by our Government.
